About The Workshop

This exciting workshop is for anyone wanting to explore abstraction, but is not sure where to start.

But even if abstract art is not your thing, you may still find the workshop useful. It’s all about creating compositions that are pleasing to the eye.

The workshop will be exploring the use of armatures – compositional arrangements that have been used again and again in realism and impressionism. They are used, and reused, because they work. For that reason they can also be taken as a guide for abstract artists to develop powerful designs and compositions.

The workshop will also cover topics such asemic writing, how to use line to lead the viewer’s eye and principles of design such as dominance; harmony; balance; and contrast. Learn more about composition and add a new tool to your artist’s toolkit while  exploring this novel approach to abstraction. Guaranteed results.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

Richard specialises in teaching and painting with acrylics, helping aspiring artists unlock their creativity and gain the skills to achieve their artistic vision in whatever style they choose to work.

His relaxed and encouraging teaching style is coupled with a sound knowledge of mediums, painting techniques, colour theory and principles of composition and design.

Richard has produced seven art instruction DVDs and regularly presents workshops and demonstrations around Australia. His work has featured in the ‘Artist’s Palette’, ‘Australian Artist’ and ‘International Artist’ magazines. Having discovered that Richard also lives locally within our beautiful southern coastline, Splashout is doubly pleased to present this Workshop tutored by Richard Rogers. (He comes highly recommended and research has shown that participants in his previous workshops have come away with several new skills and artwork to be proud of and memories of a quality time spent in the studio.)
