Course Process:
- Learn to work with line, space, composition, tonal observation, perspective, and rendering.
- Learn the basics of simple colour mixing and use of colour palettes.
- Learn how to apply your paints with a range of different brushstrokes.
- Develop the ability to draw, then paint your drawings.
Course Outcomes:
On completing this course, you will have learnt the basics of how to draw and paint. You will have knowledge, skills, sketches, finished paintings on stretched canvases and a ‘Certificate of Completion’. This course was specifically designed for absolute beginners with no experience whatsoever or experienced artists seeking a refresher.
Success is guaranteed through observation, simple structured exercises and guidance from skilled tutors. Development and confidence slowly grows through practice. Movement through this two stage process is gentle, therefore you develop confidence and skills that last. Gradually experience that wonderful sense of ‘I can do this’ !
IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING ATTENDANCE:
The first session of the term is obligatory as it is not only introductions but covers an overall detailed briefing of what to expect and how to complete the course.
Attendance at this first session is essential.
Clients who feel they are unable to attend this session are asked to notify us and will be encouraged to undertake a future term where they’re able to commit to full attendance.

Materials
Splashout sells all art materials, supplies and canvases at greatly reduced prices.
WEEK 1 – Drawing/Sketching Starter Kit
Contents: A3 Sketch pad – Charcoal – 3 Pencils – 1 Artline pen – 1 Eraser – 1 stick white conte. Splashout price = $ 26.30
WEEK 4 – Oil painting Starter kit
Contents: 5 tubes of oil paints (Red, Blue, White, Black, Yellow). 4 brushes + 1 palette + 1 palette knife +1 solvent + 1 medium. Splashout price = $ 236.95
Splashout’s total price for all ‘Introduction Course’ materials = $ 263.25
