ABOUT MARGARET OLLEY

Margaret Olley was a much loved, highly prolific and genuinely admired Australian Artist who lived and painted in Paddington Sydney.  She was regarded as an eccentric type of gal, with heaps of strength and character, as well as actually being quite a ‘character’ in her public personality!

She created large and incredibly ‘busy’ art pieces exceptionally well.  She was the Artist’s Artist, who was often heard scathingly describing other Artists’ paintings that she disapproved of, as having “no-one home” in them!

She would constantly arrange a variety of item together from all around her highly cluttered studio and set about re-creating them into a magnificent still life set up, with her signature style of vibrancy and a fiesta of colour!

Pictured below:  a mix of Margaret Olley’s still life paintings with the grand dame herself painting in her Paddington Studio surrounded by her iconic clutter.
