ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

This workshop offers relaxed and playful applications to drawing the figure within a space/ setting.  Initially, drawing from a life model, participants will construct a large figurative drawing, with a focus on representational aspects and notational sketches. This will be followed by a series of exercises and quick moves that explore different ways to represent the figure through expressive mark-making, colour, collage and mixed media applications.

This workshop will experiment with formal qualities such as composition, tone, shape, texture, colour, pattern, repetition, line and harmony. Learning fundamental visual skills, to create inventive compositions through direct observation, memory, imaginative and constructed spaces.

Suitable for beginners and advanced painters.

Mel Brown is a visual artist and Arts Educator, practising on Kaurna Country (Tarndanya/Adelaide Plains). Since 2011 she has taught both Painting and Drawing at Adelaide Central School of Art. She received several scholarships and was the recipient of the Alumni Award in recognition of her outstanding achievement in her studies. In 2010 also received the golden key for studies in Diploma of Education (Double Art).
