EXPRESSIVE PORTRAITS – FULL
This short course delves into the art of painting portraits that go beyond mere likeness, focusing on capturing the essence and personality of the subject. Participants will learn techniques to convey emotion, expression, and individuality through brushwork, colour choice and composition.
Learn to infuse your portraits with depth and narrative, exploring various approaches to bring out the unique character of your subject on canvas.

PLEIN AIR SESSIONS – DRAWING IN THE LANDSCAPE
Splashout invites you to connect with nature through a series of “Drawing in the Landscape” sessions this Autumn facilitated by award winning writer and visual artist, Toni Hassan.
With our busy and distracted lives, come along to practice being still and notice the environment.
Drawing is a primal form of mark-making, about more than leaving an impression on a page, but a vehicle for self-discovery and expression.
Through a series of exploratory drawing exercises, learn how to quieten your inner critic and let go a little, relax and have some fun.
Four dates are on offer – choose one or all of them!

DRAWING FUNDAMENTALS
Learn, develop and experience the skills for achieving the basics of drawing and re-creating an image, item, scene using charcoal, pens, inks, crayons, pastels, pencils and more !
This course is designed in such a way that you will slowly and gently move your way through the necessary, step by step foundations of drawing and sketching.

OLD MASTERS
Step into the world of classical artistry with this short course focused on the techniques of Dutch artist, Johannes Vermeer.
Learn the timeless methods of composition, lighting, and layering used by Vermeer.
Through guided practice, you’ll create your own ‘Girl with the Pearl Earring’ painting while developing your skills in capturing texture, depth and realism, bringing a touch of classical elegance to your artwork.
